This privacy policy explains how Lingua Research Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects and uses personal information when you visit linguaresearch.co.uk or contact us. We are committed to handling your information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
Lingua Research Ltd is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. Lingua Research Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 15834343). Our registered office is 11 Bletchley Drive, Coventry, England, CV5 9LW. You can contact us about anything in this policy at info@linguaresearch.co.uk.
2. What information we collect

- Information you give us by email: your name, email address and anything you choose to include in your message.
- Technical information: when you visit the website, our hosting provider’s servers automatically record technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, for security and to keep the website running.
- Cookie information: see section 7 below.
We do not ask for, and ask you not to send us, sensitive personal information (for example about health, religion or political views) through the website.
3. How we use your information and our lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis under UK GDPR |
|---|---|
| To reply to your enquiry and communicate with you about it | Our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us; or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract |
| To provide our services if you become a client | Performance of a contract |
| To keep the website secure and working properly | Our legitimate interests in running a safe and reliable website |
| To remember your cookie choices | Legal obligation (to respect your consent choices) and strictly necessary use |
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not send marketing emails unless you have asked us to.
4. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with service providers who help us run the website and our business, and only as far as necessary:
- Our website hosting provider (Namecheap), which stores the website and the messages sent through our contact form.
- Our email service provider, which delivers and stores the emails we send and receive.
- Google Fonts: our website loads fonts from Google’s servers, which means your browser sends your IP address to Google when you visit.
We may also disclose information if we are required to do so by law.
5. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards permitted by UK data protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, to make sure your information remains protected.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep general enquiries and related correspondence for up to 3 months after our last contact with you, and then delete them securely. If we go on to work together, reports, project data, working files and report-related correspondence are deleted according to our Report Security and Data Deletion policy: project files are deleted after a 14-day review and revision period, and report-related correspondence 30 days after final delivery. Contracts and invoices are kept for as long as UK law requires.
