Lingua Research: linguistics-based market research

01.

Qualitative data is rarely examined linguistically, so valuable insights are lost. We make sure every part of your data is used.

02.

Grammar, discourse, metaphor and even pronunciation reveal what people think and feel, beyond what they say openly.

03.

Language is a system shared by a community; speech is how each person uses it. We read one in the other.

04.

Our analyses rest on replicable methods from linguistics, quantified and supported by evidence from the data.

05.

Every insight we deliver is based on an observation or on data, never on intuition alone.

06.

Each insight is specific to the situation, category or brand, not a general truth.

07.

It is genuinely new, it can change behaviour in the target audience, and you can act on it.

08.

It contains a prediction about the future, so it helps you decide what to do next.

Founder: Dr Mehmet Aygunes

Dr Mehmet Aygunes, founder of Lingua Research

Dr Mehmet Aygunes holds a PhD in linguistics and has worked for many years in both academia and the research sector. From 2013 to 2024 he held posts as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at leading universities, including Istanbul University and Trinity College Dublin. He has served as Principal Investigator and researcher on academic projects with a combined budget of over €300,000.

His academic work includes experimental research on how language is processed in the brain. The funded projects he has been part of include:

  • The Person Feature Hierarchy in Turkish Third-Person Forms: An Event-Related Potentials (ERP) Study (TÜBİTAK, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye, programme 3001)
  • Investigating the Distinction between Syntactic Processing and Verbal Working Memory through Multimodal Imaging (TÜBİTAK programme 1001)

The ERP/EEG and brain-imaging expertise gained through this research also underpins our neuromarketing services.

Dr Aygunes has pioneered innovative approaches to using linguistic methods in market research. In collaboration with Virtua Consult, he has led 13 linguistics-based market research projects and 7 neuromarketing projects. Endorsed by the British Academy under the UK’s Global Talent route, he continues his academic work alongside research outside academia.

Everything starts with a hello. Tell us about your data or your next brand project and we will get back to you.
